We are going to be relocateing to the Windsor, CT area from Atlanta, Ga and are not familiar with the area.

Looking for a home with great schools for our children. What are some areas to consider? Simsbury, Avon, Granby, and Canton are places we are searching online? Any insight would be helpful! Proably looking in the 550K range, but budget might be more based on our relo package.

A warm welcome to the Peachtree-ers from an original CT Nutmegger! I grew up in Windsor and my office is there. Windsor itself it a great town...but I digress. There's some great unbiased information online about the schools in all of these towns at the CT Economic Resource Center. It's http://www.cerc.com/townprofiles. The profile for Windsor is actually on my website, as well.

Your decision may also be somewhat based upon your new work location, am I right? Since I'm based in Windsor and am very familiar with the Greater Hartford area, I'm confident I can assist you in exploring your options.

Hope this information is helpful. If I may be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Hello ATL - If schools are a driving factor - consider the ages of your kids as you evaluate the area towns. Elementary, Middle and High School; depending on the towns you begin to narrow, there will be advantages and disadvantages. Your price range will allow for a wider array of opportunity. Once you have a good understanding of your complete RELO Package and the timeline, I would enjoy the opportunity to talk with you and earn your business. All the best in your move!

This might be a bit off topic but I saw your post and wanted to offer you a thought.
If you receive a "lump sum" from your employer for your relo, I offer a no cost voluntary benefit program for corporations that provides employee discounts off of real estate related services. My long distance moving discount from one of the nation's top van lines can save you several thousand dollars by itself. If you combine it with some of the other real estate related service discounts provided by select professional partners in the network you can make a lump sum relo package go a long, long ways. To find out more either call me or send me an email. -Ed 203 641-6839 or ekowal@primeres.com

Good morning. A great resource for the Farmington Valley is http://www.thevalleybook.com
Lots of info on the area. All the areas you are searching are fabulous. Another resource for school information is http://www.greatschools.net

Let me know where you will be working and I can prepare a map for you to show you the commute distance. Sometimes that helps.

If you have any other questions or are come to the area for a visit, I would be happy to give you a tour.
