Schools and neighborhoods to live and raise children

Asked by Kim Hardy, Tue Jul 17, 2012

Ok maybe my question was too general, I currently live in East Cobb in the school zones of Mountain View elementary, Hightower middle and Pope HS. So my question is are the schools in the zip code 30076 in Alpharetta or Roswell area good? I do want to be close enough to travel to East Cobb being I have family in that county. Any suggestions?

As a personal opinion I do believe the North Fulton school district has some of the best public schools in the Atlanta area. For your location to be convenient to East Cobb I would suggest staying closer to Roswell than going further up in Alpharetta.

But for your piece of mind and to learn more or less what others parents think too please check It is a great comparison website that ranks and offer information on most public and private schools with parents reviews.

If you have further questions please do not hesitate and contact me.

As Katherine said, crossing 400 and running Holcomb Bridge Road can add significant time to a commute. My main office is in East Cobb on Roswell Road, home office in Rosell off Crossville Road - the back and forth is largely uneventful.

As I said before - if stats and numbers are looked at then the schools compare favorably. Clearly there's more to stats though so you should put boots on the ground and visit them to ensure they're a good fit for your kids.

You can find nice homes for a reasonable price in Roswell west of 400, just be careful with any stucco, LP/GP siding and polybutelyne piped homes - all known material defects.

Yes, the schools are very comparable in both areas, both areas have some of the best public schools in the state.

If travel to and from East Cobb is important, I would recommend staying on the west side of Hwy. 400. Roswell is the most convenient as part of it is even in Cobb County. Staying south of Hw. 92 will also reduce your traffic concerns.

However, it depends on how much you want to spend and what type of house you are looking for. The newer you go, the more expensive and the further out you go, the more house you get for your money.

I would recommend looking at a wide range to start, and you'll find you can narrow down your search pretty quickly, once you get inside some properties.
