Quality of homes made by Grenadier Homes

Asked by BuyingTips, Dallas, TX Sun Feb 10, 2013

Does anyone live in a home made by Grenadier home? They claim they are good at service have received only one BBB complaint. What is the quality of their homes compared to homes made by GRAND, Standard Pacific or First Texas?

We've lived in a Grenadier home for 4 years in Creekside. Build was very stressful with many errors and omissions, surprises. Quality of house seems good though. Few problems after move in, electrical primarily. We chose this builder for their distinctive exteriors and still love the look of the house and overall floor plan. I always tell people I'd buy a Grenadier, but not but build one.

It has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Grenadier homes in Wylie have been there now for almost 3 years and the company has 5 locations ranging from the 170K (Wylie) to $440k market. One of the things that the company tried to bring to the Market is the double masterbedroom. They put together a nice product and I sure they will be around for many years to come. They are every bit in line with the three home builders mentioned.

The Grenadier homes in the Creekside Estates area is located in Wylie, but much of it is served by the Plano school system. This neighborhood is on the far north/east part of Wylie and you have easy access to 75-Central Expressway as well as the George Bush Turnpike. The builder has provided several items usually considered upgrades as part of their standard features. They also have a "green" package which helps with utility costs. While Grand Homes, Standard Pacific Homes, and First Texas Homes have been building in this area for many years, Grenadier began building in the area only a few years ago.

I am currently in a project with this builder. If given a choice I would choose a different builder. We are 10 and a half months into our project. Their excuses have been; slow to get permits, Labor shortage (DR Horton does not seem to have problems). Megatel a small builder is putting up homes quickly as well. As well as, labor shortages during the Christmas Holiday because all the help goes back to Mexico. In my experience Hispanic labor that goes to Mexico may not have the correct paperwork to be here to begin with. The Wylie General Contractor and Sales Agent have both resigned and been replaced. In fact I believe most of the Sales Agents have been replaced at all the properties with the exception of Fairview. We have had issues from design, framing, construction quality, and argumentative staff. Only to recieve the run around time and again. I recommend hiring your own inspector to go through the phases with you if you choose this builder.
Beware of Grenadier Homes.
