We are about to close on a home in the Town of Patterson (Brewster Schools). The bank has figured our monthly payments without figuring in the STAR reduction, which is around $1100/yr. I know we missed the deadline to apply for the STAR program for this year, but is there any way to recoup the extra taxes we must pay until our application goes through (in March, I believe), or will we have to bite the bullet and pay an extra $100 a month for the next 8 months? It doesn't seem fair that we would get nailed for taxes simply because we bought our house after the March 1st deadline.
I haven't rec'd a definitive answer from the Town of Patterson, our lawyer, or our real estate agent. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
