We have a lot of choices in public schools including magnet and charter schools. We have the highly acclaimed International Baccalaureate (IB) program for the high level students, magnet schools that focus on certain fields of study and even the fantastic Pepin Academy for students with learning disabilities.
Some neighborhoods may have very expensive Community Development District Taxes along with a cost Homeowners Association fee so you may want to avoid those neighborhoods (unless you value the amenities typically offered). In some cases you may pay an additional $3,000 per year to live in certain neighborhoods. You may be able to pay for a country club membership instead!
Flood zones are another concern with recent changes that may impose very costly required flood insurance on a buyer getting a mortgage.
