You can easily dispute credit errors and old accounts online which will only take 30 days to fix and if erased from your credit history will raise your fico score. Visit the credit beauraus websites. In addition, some of the newest and smallest debts should be paid off and your fico too will rise. The interest rate on your mortage will be less if your fico score is high and you will be have a couple of hundred dollars less in mortage payments thus saving interest.
Good luck!

The best thing to do is get prequalified by a mortgage loan officer. They can pull your credit and review it with you. Also figure out what payment (price range) you can afford. You might be a canidate for FHA. But only a mortgage loan officer can really let you know the answers to your questions after pulling your credit and reviewing your assets and job earnings.

Mortgage is based on your credit scores and debt ration. Its a great time purchase you also receive tax credits for home ownership. . If you work positively in concert with a mortgage broker I am assured solutions to all of your questions could be resolved
