I have a MLS# for a home I was looking at but now it's says no longer avaiable, does this mean the house has been sold?

That's one possibilty. It could be under contract, expired, or with drawn. If you hve the agent's number, call and ask. If not keep checking because if it may come back on the market.

It could mean that the listing expired from the system. When sellers list their home, it is usually for 3 months, 6 months, or a year. If the home sat on the market for a while, the seller may have let the listing expire and didn't extend the listing or re-list with another agent. Keep your eye out for that home with a different MLS number. They could re-list soon!
