The market is hot right now and 2/2's are being purchased quickly. It is very possible to puchase a property from another state. I sell to people in other countries. You need to have a computer with accessible email and a good realtor who communicates.

Great ! And yes this is very possible. I have several very nice ones in that area. That is a great idea instead of renting for four years. I deal with a lot of students and faculty from Nova University. I have bee for several years now, including the Asst. to the Dean. I just helped her and her husband purchase a home. It is an easy resale area due to the constant transition of the university environment.

Market is good, inventory is low, good priced properties move fast, and have multiple offers.
You need to talk to an expert in detail, create a plan depending on your budget and qualifications.
If you finance, first thing is to get pre-approved, to find out what terms, downpayments additional costs you need to plan, and with that infomation you can start looking.
Call me or e-mail me for pre-approval and we can go from there.

Royal Grand and Sundance are both very popular with Nova students because you could walk to class. Rolling Hills is another close choice but the buildings are a little older. When your son finishes school the condo can be easily rented to incoming Nova students or resold. I have helped numerous Nova students coming into town with both purchases and rentals. Feel free to call me at 954-252-1433 for any questions.

Another option over a condo is Rexmere Village in Davie, not too far from Nova. Rexmere Village (and sister community, Paradise Village) offer affordable and attractive single family manufactured (prefabbed) homes starting as low $59,900 (temporary promotional price as of this writing) for a brand new 3 Bedroom / 2 Bath, with the peace-of-mind that comes with a builder warranty. Rexmere Village is located in an A-Rated school district and has many education-friendly community programs including free after-school tutoring for elementary-school aged kids, an annual scholarship program, and site fee discounts for Nova students that purchase a community-owned home prior to beginning Nova (restrictions apply). Buying a new 3/2 model outright in cash qualifies Nova Grad Students for a $200/mo site fee discount for 2 years, which means just $481/mo for energy-efficient living, close proximity to Nova, and many resort-style amenities including a heated Olympic sized swimming pool, gym, tennis, basketball, putting green, lake recreation (fishing, kayaking), community library with WiFi and more. All prospective homeowners must apply for community approval (which entails a criminal background and credit check). Rexmere Village and Paradise Village are two great communities worth investigating further as an option for Nova students!
