Hi Anjali, you've come to a great place to ask this question - in addition and as a compliment to the responses you get to your question, check out the profiles and website of the TruliaPros that service your area of interest. You will find client testimonials in both places, read them, looking for the qualities that you value.

As an interesting - and I hope encouraging aside - in 2009, the majority of my clients found me online, and most of the those connections originated right here on Trulia. And so while Newport is not my area of expertise, I am quite sure you'll find a good resource here on Trulia.

Good luck to you and Happy New Year all!

Anjali,

Starting with a friend or colleague's referral is always a good starting point. From there you may want to research online for an agent who you feel meets your needs and desires. You can search through Realtor's resumes on this site under the "Find a Pro' tab at the top of the page.

Here are several recommendations from my past customers.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I'll be happy to assist.

Sincerely,

I recommend you talk to friends and family who have worked with local agents, whether they purchased or rented. The first hand experience of someone you know is always your best bet. I base my business on referrals and always find it easiest for both sides if there is already a level of trust and understanding going into the relationship.

If you don't know anyone who has purchased or rented in the area then rely on testimonial but make sure you sit down with the agent and go over you expectations and how they work to make sure you are compatible. If you take the hour up front to speak to the agent everyone will know what to expect and the home buying process will be that much smoother.

Good luck with your home search and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.

Hi Anjali,

I would recommend myself, but feel that may come across a bit biased;)

I've been working in the area primarily as a buyer's agent for the past five years and would be more than happy to provide you with references from both current and past clients so you can speak with or email them directly. I realize how important finding the right agent is, so am happy to discuss your needs over the phone, or meet you in person for a buyers consultation.

My contact info is below... let me know if you would like me to provide you with references, or if you have any questions you would like to discuss about the home buying process or the market in general.

Best Regards,

Chris Amberg

Well naturally I think I'm extrordinary!! But I agree with Richard. Find one you like and you feel you can trust. Realtors come in a lot of shapes, sizes, and flavors. The best way to find one is to call one on the phone, talk for awhile, if they sound good set up a
