Live with parents and need a sample rental history letter

Asked by Sweetie, 30238 Fri Oct 8, 2010

I live with my mother and I wanted some ideas on letters that I can present for the underwriter on my mortgage. I have been systematically paying off my debts sucessfully this past year and the company would like proof that I can do the same thing in a home. I just don't have any idea how to attack this lett and I really really want my house. I am scheduled to close early November.

Have you been paying rent and can you show you have been writing checks for it? Just a letter, especially from a family member, probably will not be enough to prove you have been paying rent. A "rent free" letter would be different. An institutional VOR (Verification of Rent) is generally what is required to evidence rent.

Be that as it may here's about as good a sample for a private VOR as you can find. Your loan officer should be answering this question for you unless you're working with a company that uses "application takers".
