Candy,
Whiskey Creek is an established deed-restricted community located in South Fort Myers. Housing options in the Whiskey Creek community include single-family homes, attached villas and condos. The Whiskey Creek landscape is complemented by scenic lakes and mature plantings. Whiskey Creek was developed by US Homes.

Some homes in the neighborhood offer gulf access via Whiskey Creek to the Caloosahatchee River. Whiskey Creek offers an active adult 55+ condo option.
Here is the website of the community: http://www.whiskeycreeknews.net/

Please contact me at your earliest convenience so I call tell you more about the location, lifestyle, etc.

As the other realtors have said, Whiskey Creek is a very nice community with a nice neighborhood feel to it. U.S. Homes/Lennar was one of the original builders when it was built back in the 1990s.

While you are contemplating the purchase of a re-sale home, you should also stop to consider the purchase of a brand-new home by Lennar Homes, built to today's stringent building codes and presented with an "Everything's Included" philosophy of including a myriad of builder upgrades, such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, crown moulding in all the living area as well as the Master Bedroom suite, in the base price of the home.

Great Value For Pool Home In Coveted Whiskey Creek Neighborhood! Home has just been updated as of 11/7/2012 and the attention to detail in this move-in-ready home is evident. This 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage home boasts gorgeous new wood floors throughout and tile in the kitchen and dining areas. Neutral paint colors and 5 1/4 inch baseboards give the home a polished look. The kitchen and bathrooms have been upgraded with new cabinets & counter tops. Whiskey Creek is a very good area. We've resided in the area for over 30 years and couldn't be happier. Great area schools, churches, nice people, easy access to beaches and shopping. Whiskey Creek has deed restrictions and is a well-kept community. Former Rutenburg homes throughout, many waterfront. Much better in Fort Myers than Cape Coral.

Unless something drastic has happened in the past 4 years, this community built by US Homes was full of low income (government assisted) RENTERS. Some were great neighbors, but others were a nightmare. The units are not well insulated & you can easily hear the noise from other units....even if they are not loud.
Some of the units were built before a hurricane ...can't remember the name of that one. The units were left open to the environment & proper steps were not taken to dry the units before finishing them. There was visible MOLD growing on the kitchen cabinets, pantry doors etc.
Also the plumbing was bad & a 4th floor units toilet overflowed causing major damage to to the unit below it .....3rd floor. Sewage etc was coming through the light fixtures. US Homes had a company called Dri-Rite do the remediation. We just recently learned Dri-Rite is no longer in business & Jim the owner is no where to be found. We need his last name & Lennar (US Homes) refuses to give it to us. We also found out the employees of Dri-Rite were ALL UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS. They were paid in cash on Friday afternoons by the owner Jim often in the parking lot. US Homes local president was aware of this illegal activity & continued to use them as MOLD REMEDIATORS. He either did not know the dangers of mold or ignored them in the name of the almighty dollar. He DID KNOW there were ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS working on the units & did nothing to stop it.

Whiskey Creek is a beautiful community that is close to everything, the beaches, shopping, downtown, etc. I live in the area as well and love it. Mature landscaping and vegetation give it an advantage over some other communities.
Good luck on your search!

Hi Candy,
Whiskey Creek is and always has been a very nice, established and popular area. It's location is ideal. I live very close by and just love living in this part of Fort Myers. It's easy access to great restaurants, shopping, the beaches/islands, and downtown. I've lived here since 1981, (a realtor since '83) and come from Wisconsin. If you'd like I can provide you with current listings in the area, or even set you up on an automatic search so that you'll be notified as soon as a new listing comes on the market, or there is a price adjustment on any of the existing homes. Happy to help a fellow mid-westerner.

I just noticed that none of us really commented on Cape Coral. You should check out Cape Coral as well as Fort Myers. I live in Cape Coral and love it! With over 400 miles of canals Cape Coral will really appeal to you if you enjoy water activities such as boating.
