Molly Lim, Other/Just Looking in Outside U.S.

Is there any difference between 'detached' single family home and single family home? I am a foreigner looking for home.

Yes there is a difference, detached literally means detached (no other home connected) as compared to a townhouse which might have homes sharing a common wall on one or both sides. There is also semi-detached where you have two homes that share one common wall.

Hope this helps!

Your answer is confusing given the question. The poster is asking if there is a difference between "detached single family" and just "single family". It sounds like the answer would be "no" - in other words, by definition "single family" means detached. Or is there another kind of detached besides single family?

Single familes homes are homes that are not attached to any other home. A semi-detached home is one that shares at least part but not all of a common wall. An attached home shares a complete common wall. It can get confusing.

Molly;
Is it possible that "detached" is referring to the garage? Single family residential homes have either attached or detached garages.
