Is the Property tax on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe about the same as the tax on the california side ???

Asked by Tom C, 92506 Mon Aug 10, 2009

I know Nevada has no income tax so I thought perhaps they might go easier on property tax also. I could be way off the mark. Thought I would give it a shot, lol. Thank you in advance.

California is 1.25% of sales price approximately. However, your tax base stays the same over the long haul. In Nevada it can be lower in the beginning but they will increase the value of your home over the long haul and you may end up paying more when home prices around your home rise.

No - not the same. CA is approx. 1.25% of selling price. NV has a tax schedule, ranges depending on which county. Typically, NV will be less that CA. Let me know if you need further assistance.
