Is it true that some agents will split their commision with you?

Asked by JerseyShore524, Central Business District, Newark, NJ Tue Apr 8, 2008

I was told that in this market- you can find agents willing to split their commission with you when buying a home.
Any truth to this or is it an urban legend?

Urban legend and illegal in NJ. NJ is a non-inducement state. This means that they cannot offer you anything in order to make a sale and this would be construed of as the same.
There may also be RESPA violations in this occurence.
If you are looking in NJ please call me.

The agents split their commission with the buyers' agent who brings in the deal. We are not allowed to share commission with clients.

No it can't be done because it is illegal in New Jersey. It is legal in some states, but not here.
