Hi Patsy,
From a Crime perspective Brian is correct and his guidance is spot on.

From an investment standpoint are you looking at this as a true investment property standpoint or as a personal residence. I can tell you that homes have maintained their values in that area very well and that is very good from a personal residence standpoint. As an investment property standpoint it would depend on the properties being rented in the area. Are you working with an agent in the area? They could get you this information.

Whether investment or personal home now is great time to buy with affordability at a all time high, stable and increasing property values. If you need a referral for an agent in the area feel free to contact our office and we'd be delighted to assist you.
Sincerely,

It would really be against fair housing laws to answer this question. Instead, what is NOT against the fair housing laws, is to point you in the right direction.

Just do a simple google search for Huntsville Crime statistics and there are a few sites out there that will give you information, including a breakdown between "violent" crimes and "nonviolent" crimes. (Murder/Assault as opposed to car theft and graffitti).

As far as being a safe investment, I am not familiar with the Huntsville area. I recommend that you contact a local real estate agent and speak with them regarding that aspect.

Best of luck to you,
