This is a nice upscale area near affluent neighborhoods. Not an area that is associated with a lot of crime. That being said crime can happen anywhere.

The best thing to find out about safe areas is to check crime rates at the Austin police web sites.

As far as 6000 Shepherd Mountain condos are concerned, I just showed them to some relocating clients of mine last week. It is a great condo complex, most condos have great views and you get a lot for the money while the HOA fee is quite reasonable considering there is a pool, a gym and other amenities.

Are you relocating? If you need help with buying a condo in that complex or advice where else to look, I'd be happy to assist.

Totally! It is safe from tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, tiger attacks, bubonic plague, roving bands of angry gorillas, alien abductions and elephant stampedes. I hope this helps, in addition to the crime advice already given.

Overall the location nicely tucked in west Austin and surrounded by affluent neighborhoods. While it is a decent "starter" price, don't just focus on price, it may not be a good "buy" and there might be additional or better options available. Ill be glad to talk to you about it one on one. Whether its safe or not, you can check out as stated earlier.

lived there several years back and I found it to be nice area. I always FELT safe but as a REALTOR, I have to be very careful about not calling a neighborhood safe. That's because frankly, crime can and does happen anywhere. You would do best to do some research using a crime website like

Good luck in your search!

Yes I am a realtor BUT I also lived in that complex as a much younger person. It's adjacent to some very nice homes west of 360 and is somewhat remote (in a good way) so I would recommend it. There are a number of online resources you can Google that provide crime data for the area.
