Mountain View is made up of many diverse neighborhoods and housing options. The most expensive homes are located west of El Camino., the least expensive tend to be closer to highway 101. Mountain VIew has single family homes, townhomes and condos, multi unit residences. Some neighborhoods have quite a mix of housing while others are made up of only single family homes. Depending on the neighborhood, children in Mountain View either attend schools in the Mountain View/Whisman elementary school district or the Los Altos elementary school district. Older children would attend either Los Altos High or Mountain View high scchool. Downtown Mountain View has some lovely older "character" homes that break the look of the standard tract ranch home. With its diversity in housing, people and educatoin, Mountain View is a great place to call home. Note: due to recent school closers a buyer should make sure they verify the attendences boundaries of teh neighborhood school prior to removing any contract contingencies.

Mountain View in certain locations actually has access to both Mountain View and Los Altos schools.
This makes it ideal for a family. You get the great schools without the Los Altos price tag. Some of the top schools are here including Springer elementary and Almond. Also, you have the option of either high school. Houses continue to see multiple offers. In 2003 houses in certain areas were in the 800K range. Most are now around 1.3 K in 3-4 years. There is superior infrastructure in the town and that is why google moved in. It has parks, a nice down town and easy access to all the major highways without the

Mountain View is a great city to live in! The weather is the best year-year round. If you like to be in a good community close to major Silicon Valley employers, this is a great place. I like Sunnyvale as well, having lived there for 5 years. The only thing is that El Camino Real gets high volume traffic. Palo Alto homes are more expensive...but all of these cities offer their unique qualities!

Mountain View is a great little community with a revitalized downtown. Nice shops, bookstores, cafe's and much more. Great sushi too! It is conveniently located and near Silicon Valley. Transportation is good.

The downtown (Castro street) area has become very pricy for those looking to be walking distance to the restaurants and the train station. Although that is also where a lot of the new condo/townhouse developments are being built. MtV has recently benefitted well from the tax revene dollars that are coming in from Google and other great companies in the city. This is adding to revitalization of downtown and also to a great library, city hall, public events, etc. Google just wifi'd the city too with free internet. I love MtView. It is a great city. A bargain in comparison to it neighbors Palo Alto and Los Altos. Also a more interesting city and downtown than Sunnyvale. BTW, what was the last sentence in the question - it got cut off.

Houses in Moutain View tend to hold their value and can be less affected by fluctuations in the market - so it can be a good place to buy. Mt. View is attractive as it has a pedestrian friendly downtown, and is, indeed, in a great location, central to the Silicon Valley and the city. There is good public transportation to Mt. View, too, and many of the businesses there offer shuttles to the Amtrak train.
