Are you paying any rent now? How much have you saved for down payment and closing costs.?
There are some great articles on trulia about buying a home.
The first step is finding out how much you qualify for .
You can also go to http://www.hud.gov and talk to a hud approved lender in your area and look at rent vs buy analysis.

Beauti,
I would recommend starting with a lender to see if you can qualify for a mortgage. Find a good lender in your area, perhaps your banking institution, and discuss the home loan process. A good lender will explain the costs involved, the different types of loans out there such as a Conventional Loan or a FHA Loan, and guide you through the process. Almost all sellers out there and their agents are asking for some form of pre-approval upfront from a buyer when submitting an offer on a home. Searching for a home, falling in love with a home of your dreams, and then being denied a loan can be heartbreaking. Taking the extra step and starting the loan process, will free you up to go after that perfect home. Once you are pre-approved, start your home search in the area and price that you feel comfortable. Find an agent and discuss agency with that agent so you are aware of your rights as a consumer.

Good Luck!

The first step is to know how much home you are able to purchase. Finding this out can be as easy as picking up your phone and speaking with a lender. Once you find out then it is time to look for homes that you are interested in. As a buyer it is to your benefit to have a Realtor on your side to help you with the home buying process. I would be more than happy to sit down and talk with to see how best your needs can be met. I live in Goose Creek and know the area very well. Please feel free to contact me and I will do whatever I can to make sure your needs are met.

Beauti, Your first step would be to talk with a mortgage broker in order to see how much money(loan) you can qualify for. Once you know how much money you can spend then you can talk with a Realtor in order to find a home that meets your needs, wants, and your budget.

Here is a link that shows all the mortgage brokers/lenders in your area with a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&…

I wish you the best of luck and feel free to contact me anytime with questions as I would be happy to lend an ear and get you the answers you need.

Best regards, Dave

First, you need to save up some money to get a down payment.

Then you need to go through the basic process of buying a house. The blog below explains it is easy to understand terms.

There are several other blogs related to buying a house below if the one above was helpful.

Buying a house is not always the best idea. You could be looking at some maintenance costs like if a furnace dies or the roof leaks. You are in charge of everything that happens in your own house. Sometimes renting is better, sometimes not.

If you are low income you might be better served to go to your city and ask about their housing authority. You might qualify for section 8 (low income subsidized) housing. That may be your best bet (not knowing any of your specific details).
