If I add a contengency clause stating "local" appraisers only, is this acceptable?

I have had appraisals by persons from other areas (other states), which have been laughable at best. I am considering selling my home and buying another (closer to work) but am hesitating due to this situation.

I think that would be a great idea and I think Im going to use it. I just had a deal fall apart because the appraiser used foreclosed properties as comps that were more than a mile away while there were several comps that could have been used in the same neighborhoods.
