I would like to rent I can afford 400-700 a month. Is that reasonable or should I pay more my boyfriend will help if I need it?

Why rent when you can buy. Have you tried to see if you would qualify for a loan? Buying is always cheaper than renting the same property because you are not paying for someone else to make a profit off of you.

This is a great place to post questions but when you post here, you have to remember that everyone reading your question has no idea about your finances. 4-700/month could be a back breaking payment to someone and it could be a drop in the bucket to someone else, based on your individual/household income and the monthly debt you carry.

Add a lot of detail and perhaps seek out one of the Realtors on here to assist you with finding a rental in your price range.
