Tampa is one of the highest sought after areas in Florida and expected to be a great value for tens of thousands of relocations & retirees over the next few decades. As the baby boomers seek better quality of life and sell their homes in the north and other parts of the country...they will seek warm climates, proximity to the coast, major airports, hospitals and entertainment. This will ensure Tampa's continued appreciation in real estate values. Areas such as the East Coast of Florida may be too expensive. Areas of the North may be too cold. Areas of the South may be too warm. Tampa is expected to be the perfect fit for many. Thats why I moved here from Boston 9 yrs ago. Wish I did it sooner!!

Here are some direct answers:
Population approx: +4Million
Age 0 -17 921,944 21.39%
Age 18 - 34 863,974 20.04%
Age 35 - 54 1,159,988 26.91%
Age 55 - 64 537,510 12.47%
Age 65+ 827,108 19.19%

To answer the question regarding children. You'll just need to visit as some communities are retirement areas and some are mainly younger families with smaller children while many are mixed with all ages.

I hope this is helpful to you. Feel free to check out my website which has some great search tools for you begin your search. Happy house hunting!

Tampa is a major metropolitan city. This city, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is comprised of long established communities along Bay Shore and newly created communities in the New Tampa area to the north. There are thousands of communities in Tampa.
-
My favorite is the West Chase communities, on the western edge of Tampa. You have young, upwardly mobile professionals, a exceptional community and the beaches, Tampa, airport are all within easy reach.
-
Occasionally, you need to take the 90 auto drive to visit the mouse in Orlando. It's close enough to visit every month. That Florida residents annual pass to Disney really pays off.

Call me if you need more specific data regarding available homes for sale.
