I would like to know if the neighborhood is doggie friendly? Does the neighborhood have dog parks and services such as grooming nearby?

Hello Bernadette:

I'm going to have to assume you are referring to South Beach based on nothing other than your category being "Home Buying in South Beach". I hope what I provide is appropriate.

In South Beach itself, you do have South Park. It is a small parcel that many folks and their dogs play together. It's relatively quiet and surrounded with excellent shops, etc for pampering yourself once your companion is done. There is also a park above the baseball stadium landmarked by a piece of artwork known at Cupid's Span. There are lots of dogs here each day on and off leash. Finally, and it's officially considered Rincon Hill but pretty close by, is the Rincon Hill Dog Park underneath I-80 at Beale and Bryant Streets.

Here are some helpful links for your review:

South Beach info: http://www.sanfranciscodays.com/soma-south-beach/
Rincon Hill Dog Park: http://www.trulia.com/blog/gabriel_rojas/2011/12/rincon_hill…
Rincon Hill Dog Park II: http://www.trulia.com/blog/gabriel_rojas/2011/12/rincon_hill…

I think if you use sites like Yelp.com for dog services, etc and simply talk to other dog owners in the area for recommendations you should find exactly what you're looking for.

I hope this information is useful to you and good luck!

South Park is in the neighborhood and is a great park for dogs (and people) to run around at.
There are also a few dog grooming places in Soma - Here's a few that are nearby in the neighborhood:

Hello Bernadette,

I have a list of dog friendly parks, etc. Normally, I do not ask for emails. But I am clueless as to the way to scan the information onto Trulia.

If you email me @ srosenman@hill-co.com, I do know how to scan from Hill & Co's scanner and send to any email address.

Unfortunately, South Beach is one of the least dog friendly areas in the whole city. South beach park is between 2nd and 3rd Streets and Brannan and Bryant, but other than that I can't think of another park other than a small one at King and 2nd. Bernal Height is a good dog area and anywhere closer to the Golden Gate park is good, too. At Fourth Street and Berry there is decent place to walk your dog right along the canal. There are others, but why don't you run a google map search and zoom in so you can see the green spaces.

Most neighborhoods have a dog park or dog run. In fact, San Francisco you may think dogs are more common than kids. In your area while it's a little more urban jungle like there are small patches of grass or gravel for dogs to be outside to relieve themselves. (At Rincon Hill it's the small patch by the town homes for example, at the Infinity there's grass along Main). As for parks, there is South Park itself which is a bit of a green park space in the middle of the urban area it sits within that looks like a little bit of London right here in SF. Over in the South Beach/China Basin area past the 4th Street bridge you have Mission Creek and the small park around it. It's urban sure, but there are green patches.
