This should have been discussed with your lawyer before you signed the contract. to try to get this after the fact is a little difficult.

Yes, you should be entitled to your deposit; what did your lease state; for any necessary legal advice, consult with your attorney....

Yes you are entitled to your security to be returned. However, the method and/or time of the return of the security deposit depends on the terms of your sublease contract. The cooperative purchase is a separate entity than the sublet lease; therefore it will typically play no factor in the security being returned or withheld, unless agreed upon with the cooperative as whole and/or the previous owner of the cooperative shares.

Aren't the terms of your sublet in writing?
How does it address the security deposit?

most leases spell out how and when security is to be refunded...........
