UHAB is a non-profit organization supported by membership dues to assist in affordable home ownership. They sponsor some HDFC coop conversions and may help manage some HDFC coops and offer courses and training on HDFC coops but they are not affiliated with and are not an agency of NYC, NY state or the federal government.

HDFC Housing Development Finance Corporation is an affordable housing program established and administered by the NYC agency HPD (Housing Preservation Department)

You do not need to become a member of UHAB or take their mandatory training to purchase or sell an HDFC coop in NYC. In fact, most HDFC coop re-sales are listed and marketed by residential real estate brokers.
