That question should have been provided when youselected where you brought a home and you could
have made a choice to live where the tax rate is lower. On the same note, usually where the better schools
are located, the tax rate for schools is higher and this is where you usually get the most appreciation in
your home! It is your choice. Roy

In our area, schools can drive market values so therefore good schools have an impact on your property values.

Htlvee,

There are many people that believe as you do, however, this is the current system used to provide for educational funding.

The proper source to express your concerns about educational funding would be to contact your local representatives and share your feelings with them.

Good luck

Dean is correct, matter of entire community of USA support our future generations.

If you had children that attended public schools there were families who also contributed to your child education. Any part of city, government, roads, city officals all paid by our taxes, via property or sales tax.

There would not a county or city move here in US you would not pay for taxes for schools.

Only benefit smaller home less tax you pay.

If over age of 65 you have reduce taxes most cases by approx. 50% or more.

Talk about a question that can generate impassioned responses!
Whether an individual considers this issue or any issue unfair doesn't really matter. The ruling party within a society will determine what is fair or unfair and place an obligation on all individuals whatever their position or feeling might be. That obligation must be met by all indiduals or suffer the consequences. That is why it has often been said ' an informed citizenry in a democratic society is the key to freedom."
There is no escape for paying taxes because every property is found within a school district. The school levy is usually 50%+ of our total taxing bill. My biggest concern is not so much having to pay taxes but is the tax money being spent well and are we getting a good rate of return for our money;.
Sorry there is no escaping either death or taxes (as they say).
