I need someone to help find me a house to rent in the Denver area by the end of April 2013!!

Asked by chandria_w, Denver, CO Mon Dec 24, 2012

We are looking to move into a house to rent at a reasonable price. There are 6 girls (ages 18-27), we have 3 cats & 3 dogs (all under 50lbs) and were looking to move in the Denver/metro/DU area (not aurora/5 points) somewhere near transportation (we have 3 cars amongst us, garage is optional) we are looking to spend no more than $2000/month. None of us have evictions or terrible credit. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

Hi Chandria,

I am a Property Manager with Stars & Stripes Homes, Inc, and I can understand that you may have challenges finding a suitable rental for a large family with 6 pets. I would actually recommend STAYING CLEAR OF CRAIGSLIST, as there are a lot of SCAMS posted there. I've actually had ads "highjacked" from other sites and re-posted with incorrect information on Craigslist trying to scam money from unsuspecting renters. I'd recommend http://www.rentals.com for your searches.

Additionally--as painful as this may be to wait--your search will be most fruitful approximately 30-45 days out from your anticipated move date. I say this because the overwhelming majority of suitable rentals will be gone within 30 days or so after being posted online for rent.

While my company posts our rentals on our own website, http://www.starsandstripeshomes.com, we also utilize http://www.rentals.com, which seems to be the most updated website that many other property management companies also utilize. Rentals.com "feeds" many of the other sites like zillow.com, hotpadz.com or rents.com. Unfortunately, when I deactivate ads on rentals.com because I have rented a house, the ads remain active on these other sites for a period of time, misleading the public by advertising that the house is still available for rent.

I hope this was helpful. Please feel free to contact me at 303-326-0550, ext 108 if I may assist further.

Chandria,

Good answers below. We as Realtors are not the best source to find rental properties. The best source does seem to be Craigslist or a Property management company. Is there a reason why you are not looking to purchase? I wrote an article recently about the benefits of owning rather than leasing - http://j.mp/JFzjYI . If you would like to speak with a lender I will be glad to provide you with one of my great resources. By the way, there are some really nice areas in Aurora, and Five Points is one of the most desired areas in the city now with some large homes that might meet your needs. Best of success with your search.

Hi Chandria,

Craigslist is the best resource for rental properties. And it's free.J

Good luck!

As the majority of Realtors in Denver are not property managers, the best place to look are rental sites like hotpads.com, rent.com, or craigslist. Good luck.
