Good is a matter of personal needs and requirements. Generally speaking you want someone with at least 5 years experience or 100 closed transactions. Also someone who has lived in the area for many years and knows all of the land issues. Designations such at GRI and CRS denote an extra level of dedication to learning the profession. But most of all, a good agent is one who can communicate with you in a good fashion.

Have to say, after reading these responses, I emailed one of the agents below who said she was a broker and would like to help. 5 days have gone by and no answer. Yes 2 were the weekend and one a holiday, but thought for sure yesterday we would hear from her, then started looking for something today. Nope. guess I will have to try another (mad face)

I worked with Andrea Wilhelm last year. She was absolutely amazing. My house sold in 28 days. She was patient, and took time to answer all my concerns.

Hello Heather,
The best way to find a Realtor that you would feel comfortable working with is to make a few calls to various companies and ask questions that are important to you and your family before working with a Realtor. You should interview the Realtors as if you are hiring them to work for your company; however, they are working for you and one-on-one. It's VERY important that you both mesh well together both personally and professsionally and the Realtor understands your needs and wants from your point of view. If when talking to a Realtor and it does not feel right on any level...move onto another.

Now that you're done laughing at Mr. Negativity below, my answer is as serious as your question. In all honesty, you're better-served asking this question of one of your friends or colleagues. See who they've used and what type of experience they've had. If they recommend someone, it's worth it to contact them and at least let them know you're looking. Of courseI'd be happy to help you, as a Broker with nearly 15 years experience. I compare asking for a reference in a Realtor to asking for a reference in an Estate or Financial Planner. Buying a home is a MONUMENTAL decision. There are enough agents in Greensboro that you owe it to yourself to find someone that you get along with, can relate to (age, likes, dislikes, etc) and don't have a problem saying "No" to when it comes to a house. At the end of the day, it's your $. Unfortunately there's not a BBB solely for real estate agents. I worked with 2 franchise companies here in town. Now I own a small company, and my business is 95% based on referrals. It's the way I survive.

Best of luck to you.

I am shocked that every realtor that uses trulia has not responded to this question!! Finding a "good" realtor is not hard in this area as there are hundreds to choose from. Finding someone that you are comfortable with, easy to talk to and trust is also very, very important. I disagree with having to have someone with 5 years experience and over 100 closings. Numbers don't make an agent "good". There many new agents out there that are excellent....and yes, I am one of them that would be glad to help you in any way possible!! bethmayer.point2agent.com or cbagentmayer1@coldwellbanker.com

may want to use an agent from eperks.com. They give you cash back when you complete a deal with them. You receive a percentage of the home price. Definetly worth checking out. Good luck.
