Shout out to Brooklyn! I sometimes take the Albany--Chinatown, NYC bus and visited Brooklyn a couple of months ago.

Alexander is right about townhouses mostly being in the suburbs of Albany. I used to live in one in Latham, which has a mall & movie theater that's currently being renovated. In downtown Albany, there are some new condos, incl. these: http://albanydowntowncondo.com/

Have you considered buying a multi-family house (2 to 4 units) in Albany? Rental demand is high there, and I've been looking at many of them for my buyer-investor clients.

Whether you're looking for a condo, townhouse, or multi-unit house, if you don't have an agent yet, check me out: http://www.coldwellbankerprime.com/Nina.Lee

Hi eulbanit,

The best thing for you to do is find a Realtor that you know or trust to help you search. Buyer's Agents are free to the buyer. They are paid from the transaction costs at closing associated with the seller's side. Thus a buyer's agent will work 100% in your best interests without any out of pocket expense for you.

If you are looking for an agent, I am a Certified Buyer Representative in the Capital Region and am familiar with the unique financing options of condos and townhomes. I'd be happy to help guide you in your search in the Albany area. Feel free to email, call or text me to tell me the specifics of what you are looking for and we can get started with your search. I work everyday from 8am to 8pm.

All the best,

Here is one condo for sale in Center Square Albany. There are three condos buildings in Center Square Albany, all along the same block of State Street in Albany (352 State, 355 State, and 399 State). There are also a few other nice condo buildings in and around Center Square and Downtown Albany.

If you're looking for a townhouse you're most likely going to find something outside the city center, but within a few miles of downtown albany.

You can also check out http://www.5F.352State.com as another example, this is my condo and the building I live in.

I can certainly help you find a suitable condo or townhouse. Do you have some idea of what you would like? How many bedrooms, baths etc? Do you need a garage? Do you want to be in town in perhaps a renovated Brownstone or in a newer development? What price range are you looking for and have you been pre-qualified? What is your time frame for moving? Once I have some of the basic information I can set up a search for you that will show you what is available and then send new listings to you as they come on the market. You can email me at deborah.fontes@huntrealestate.com or call 518-596-2273.
