Hi Sean,

Welcome to Middleton, WI. :)

Middleton Hills is located on the northern part of Middleton, WI. Consisting of around 400 homes, townhouses, apartments and work units.

The official website of Middleton Hills says it like this: "Middleton Hills is a neighborhood for the present, designed with a sense for the past. The qualities of small town life include friendly streets, houses with front porches, generous parks and open space, and a pedestrian oriented commercial center with shops and offices."

The community was master planned by DPZ Architects with the credit of Marshal Erdman who was the founder of Marshal Erdman and Associates, one of the nation’s leading designers and builders of medical outpatient facilities.

Many of the architectural designs found in Middleton Homes were inspired by homes built from 1890 to 1930 — compact towns, with smaller lots, closer houses, narrow streets, and a mix of residential and commercial zoning. This makes the area of Middleton Hills very unique and attractive.

There are a few main architectural designs in Middleton Hills. Below you will find a few architectural styles found in the Middleton Hills Subdivision:

Prairie Home
The Prairie Style house is largely credited to Wisconsinite Frank Lloyd Wright. He revolutionized the American home when he started his venture designing Prairie Style homes with various low horizontial lines and open interior areas. Wright was unimpressed with the boxy, confined spaces found in Victorian Style homes and began designing homes that would mesh well with the flat, prairie landscape surroundings.

Bungalow Home
The Bungalow Style house is the all American housing design and represents many different varieties of architectural styles. They are best known as the small 20th century home that is conscience of space efficiently. The Bungalow Style homes have consistently been a favorite for homebuyers in the United States. One of the main features of a Bungalow Style home is the ease of mobility for older or disabled owners as it generally constructed as a one-story home. This also makes maintenance and cleaning much easier.

Craftsman Home
The Craftsman Style house is a close resemblance of the Bungalow Style. It was first brought to the United States in the late 1800’s by a group of English designers. The name “Craftsman” came from the famous furniture designer, Gustav Stickley, in the early 1900’s. A true Craftsman Style home is built according to the plans published by Stickley; however, the ideas has since been adapted by other designers and soon became the expressed Arts and Crafts home — simple, economical and convenient.

Hi Sean,
I live and work in Middleton. It's a great community and Middleton Hills has really added a great deal to Middleton.
It's a charming neighborhood with families of all kinds.
There are tons of children who play in the alleys behind the homes and take advantage of the neighborhood parks.. The elementary, middle and high school are all within walking distance of the neighborhood. Children in Middleton Hills attend Northside Elementary, Kromrey Middle and Middleton-Cross Plains High School. For information about the schools go to http://www.greatschools.org.
The neighborhood however, is not just young families and I think this is a part of the reason it is such a great community. There are people of all ages who have built in, or moved to the neighborhood because of its walkability. There is a grocery store (Copps), post office, and places to eat all within the neighborhood.
The community has public gardens, children's parades on the holidays, book groups, clubs and gatherings year round.
Because homes are so close together you will meet your neighbors quickly and find friends fast in your alley.
Middleton's conservancy lands border the neighborhood so there are many opportunites to get outside! The conservancy has trails for hiking, biking, cross country skiing etc. It's a beautiful natural area that makes Middleton a fantastic community to live in.
The downtown of Middleton is a few minutes from Middleton Hills with an award winning library, plenty of great local eateries, a farmeres market and boutiques.
Middleton has many wonderful neighborhoods that offer something for everyone.
I love living and working in this community and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about Middleton and Middleton Hills.

Hi Sean: Two web sites might be of particular interest. The more or less "official" or development web site at
http://www.middletonhills.com/ehi/mhills/ and the Middleton Hills Neighborhood Assn. web site at
http://community.middletonhills.com/outside_home.asp There is a fair amount of redundancy within the two sites but a lot of information in total. The City of Middleton site looks pretty general. If schools are of interest, there is also the Middleton School District at http://www.mcpasd.k12.wi.us/
In general, Middleton homes reflect a good market demand on a comparable basis in the West Dane County area. Middleton Hills style tries to reflect a small community within the larger city and area.

Middleton Hills is a good area. If you want to search all the properties and current status, there are many websites including my website http://www.guptahomes.com . where you can put the zipcode (53562). if schools are a consideration, then you can search with school names as well. You can save your searches and out automatic system can update and notify the new listing or price changes as soon as it happens ( you will have option to choose to receive information by email or come back to check yourself if do not like too many email as sometimes that become bothersome! I can also send you an update on recently sold homes as that way you know the current market.
Town of Middleton and Blackhawk area are another good places.

Middleton Hill is a fun funky neighborhood. You will see more of a "downtown" feel with smaller yards and a great walk score is only 58, but I think it should be higher. http://www.walkscore.com/score/middleton-Hills-wi
My salon (Revolutions) is next to copps and the mall. Also easy commute to the Beltline- which can get you anywhere in Madison. Only disappointment is BeanSprouts has closed and moved to LA- but the Fitzgerald's has great Friday Fish- even a drive thru! Harbour Fitness is a nice fitness club a bit on the small side, but they have racquetball. Happy packing! p.s. the link below has annoying music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjMapc3sK68
