I'm purchasing a home that's a short sale. The bank has already did its final BPO. Will I be responsible for the appraisal on my end?

A BPO is not a legal document and cannot be used to finalize your loan. If you are getting bank financing, the bank is going to require that you pay for an appraisal on the property. They will contact the appraiser, the appraiser will contact the seller for an inspection and the cost will be covered as part of your closing costs. If you are paying cash, then you are not required to pay for an appraisal.
