residents. I'm a graduating medical student moving from Minnesota to Charlottesville in mid-june. I'd like to have a house ready for my wife and I to move into when we get there. We have a tight time frame though because we will be out of the country from May 15th to June 5th. I'd like to do a lot of our house searching online, then fly into Charlottesville for a couple days in April to look at places, if possible.

I'd like to work with someone who has experience both in working with new residents and the physician loan program that I'll be using for financing. I'll also need a lot of help narrowing down my house search prior to flying out.

I disagree about randomly choosing an agent from the internet. Referrals from UVA employees and other physicians or any other employer can be helpful, however it does not guarantee that the agent(s) who happens to have a good friend directing leads their way is more qualified or will provide you with better service or expertise. Out here, (on the net) we are all on an even playing field. I personally believe buyers visiting this website are educated enough to ask questions, read our bios or check out our websites if we have one, and make an intelligent decision about whom they would like to work with for themselves.

Rather than pick an agent randomly off the Internet you should check with others already working at UVA and get a referral from someone you trust. Not all Realtors are created equally and just because they might have a fancy website doesn't necessarily mean they have the experience you need in a good buyers agent. Most of our business comes to us from referrals from other satisfied clients. Check with some residents that are about to leave or an attending physician and find out if they have an agent who did a good job for them. That's the best way to find a really good qualified agent.

It would be in your best interest to find a Broker who deals with Buyers. Many agents/brokers try to list homes, work with buyers, rentals, commercial etc and are not focused on just your needs..

Hello,

I am very comfortable working with clients transitioning to the area. I moved here from Texas years ago and understand the challenges of relocating. Several of my clients have worked with me for several months before actually finding an opportunity to visit the area. I believe in going beyond the expectations of my clients and I would appreciate the opportunity to help you with your search. References are happily provided.

I'd be happy to work with you! Our office has several connections at both Sun Trust and New American who can walk you through the Physician Loan Program (aka "Doctor Loan"). And I am used to working with people on-line (Skype is wonderful!), previewing houses for people, etc. You can get all my contact info and find out about the Charlottesville area at my website. I'm looking forward to talking with you.
