JoeMSoCal -

The Scottsdale School District has a great reputation and there are several excellent private schools in the area. I would strongly recommend the areas that attend Chaparral HS, Desert Mtn HS and Arcadia HS. There are many outstanding communities in each of these attendance boundaries. As a Scottsdale native who attended Scottsdale schools and have children that attended Scottsdale schools (both public and private), I would be happy to assist you with your school and home searches. Please contact me at 602-828-1589 to discuss.

Thank you.

The schools in Scottsdale are very well rated and links to the specific schools can be provided to you so you can learn more about each individual school. There are a number of beautiful communities in the Scottsdale area and perhaps the best way to approach your search would be to provide a realtor with your criteria which may include how close you want to live to your neighborhood schools. The Desert Mountain High School has its elementary and middle school located next to each other and there are a number of communities, including golf communities that you could reside in.

There are many nice gated communities in North Scottsdale. Closest to the 101 would be Silverleaf, DC Ranch and Grayhawk, with Silverleaf being the most expensive. Further north of these would be Troon and Troon North and at the furthest point is Desert Mountain. In between are many small gated communities...too many to mention. These are all planned communities with various price points, single family homes, custom homes and condos and some have private country clubs. This should give you a beginning. Contact me if you want a custom search. Thanks Reggie Chandler

Hi Joemsocal

I have a new home going to the MLS soon. It is in DC Ranch and it is gated with community park in walking distance, great mountain views, nicely upgraded, 3 car garage, move in ready. I can email some photos if you'd like to see pre MLS. It is a very nice neighborhood, community pool and workout facility, hiking and biking paths where people state they love the schools, shopping and fine dining.

Scottsdale has a variety of neighborhoods. Depends mostly on what you like, newer house?, short commute time?, golf community? I live in McCormick Ranch, My son lives in McDowell Mt. Ranch, my sister in DC Ranch, Dad near old town and friends and relatives all over the place. We all love our neighborhoods.

Hello joemsocal,

Congratulations on your decision to relocate to Scottsdale. I have been living here for almost 20 year and loving it, my child attended all 3 levels of schools. As mentioned already, depending on your school choice of grades there are many good public as well as private schools. There are many to choose from, you may also want to check out charter schools like, Basis Charter School 5-12 at: http://www.basisscottsdale.org and Rancho Solano Private Schools new Ventura Campus 6th - 12th opening this fall. Once you choose the school and the age of your home, then the rest will be easier.

I have been helping many buyers to relocate to Scottsdale.

Dear Joemscocal:

"Good" is difficult to answer. Prices tell you what some people deem as good. Homes sourth of Indian School were mainly built in the 50s and 60s. Homes from Indian School to Shea were mainly built in the 70s and north of Shea in the 80s. Many north of Cactus were built in the 90s.

Scottsdale has a wonderful quality to it, is well zoned and has great parks (McDowell Mountain Preserve) and bike, hiking paths every where. Excellent schools and arts districts (downtown) and newer hip areas like Kierland and Scottsdale Quarter. Mountain areas like Troon and McDowell Mountain Ranch are other considerations.

Scottsdale is a long narrow (north to south) city with different characteristics urban, horse properties, golf course properties, mountain properties, townhouses, planned communities (McCormick Ranch and Scottsdale Ranch and Gainey Ranch as examples). What type of home are you looking for?

Hi joemsocal,

While there are certain things licensed agents can/can't say, there is a Buyer Advisory published by the Arizona Association of Realtors. It has links to the information you're looking for.

Since you're already on Trulia, though, check out http://www.trulia.com/local to start. It'll give you crime stats, school rankings, nearby amenities, and even estimate commute times for you. It's pretty handy for people just starting to look, trying to choose an area to live in.

Feel free to contact me with any questions- dan@phoenixhomes or 602-492-7494.

Thank you,

Dan Mitchell

Here is a website that you can check out information on Schools:

You will find many nice areas and good schools in Scottsdale. It would also depend upon your price range as well. Be sure to call and check with a school that you are interested in to be sure they are accepting new students. Also, talking with the principle and teachers is a good way to see if the school is a good fit.

If we can be of assistance to you in your search for a home, please don't hesitate to contact us, we would love to help.

Best Regards,

If you wish to reside in the city of Scottsdale, there are a couple great schooling options depending what part of Scottsdale you would like to live.

First of all, what grade levels are you most interested in? K-8, 9-12?

If you'd like any help researching this, as well as the perfect neighborhood close to the school system you like, contact me or my office. I specialize in the "Shea Corridor" as well as all the way up to Cave Creek/Carefree!

Thank you,

Scottsdale can be divided into 3 areas: North Scottsdale (like DC Ranch, Grayhawk, Troon) and Middle Scottsdale near Shea (like McCormick Ranch, Scottsdale Ranch, Gainey Ranch) and South Scottsdale. which has older homes and new High Rise living. Since middle and north Scottsdale are newer in general, you will find more gated communities, golf courses, and master planned communities that offer great family living. To check out Scottsdale schools go to http://www.susd.org. There are also private schools in the area. If I can be of further assistance, please contact me.

This is what I was looking for, an actual breakdown of the sections. Thank You. I'm assuming DC Ranch, Grayhawk and Troon are neighborhoods ?
I was hoping to find areas that offer 4/2 homes 2000 Sq feet and I was hoping, HOPING to stay under 300K. I just have no idea what zip code, city or neighborhood to put in my searches. Is there a particular street you want to stay North of to ensure higher real estate values ?
