As a Realtor in Andover, I get this question frequently from home-buyers ... and the answer is not easy! In general, all the Andover public schools are excellent compared to most other towns, and fare very well in test results and rankings. If test results are your main criteria for which school is "better," MCAS scores are as good a barometer as any. You can find these details on the state's MCAS site, http://www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/results.html
- click on 'School and District Profiles'. You can also link to this site from Andover's schools web page, http://www.aps1.net,
which gives more info about each school.
Beyond test scores, there are so many other criteria that families also use to determine how they feel about particular schools, it can become very subjective. When you also factor in buying a suitable home in a specific district, it adds more complexity to the equation. If it helps, I would be happy to speak with you and share some of my insights on the school systems and different areas of Andover with respect to housing inventory. Good luck!
