I would like to be about 30 minutes from Atlanta.

Help the community by answering this question:

Tara--Jennifer's right--though metro Atlanta has lots of areas "known" for being in good districts, "good schools" are in the eye of the beholder--you may be strictly interested in scores, or you may want more diversity for your child, or a special magnet program that's only offered at certain schools....
Two school websites that I like are: http://www.greatschools.com and http://www.schooldigger.com
I also recommend that before you narrow down completely you actually go VISIT the school and see what you think, ask questions, etc.
Best of luck!

The VERY best school systems are in Forsyth and North Fulton -- For Elementary (Suwanee, Settles Bridge, Sharon and Level Creek) -- In a recent Atlanta Magazine, Northview was ranked as the best high school. Also, Lambert has high reviews. For pre-K I would recommend Goddard or Legacy Academy.

As some have already mentioned, we can’t specifically comment on whether school districts are good or bad, but I can say that Dunwoody and Sandy Springs are wonderful communities and great places to raise children. Our team specializes in representing buyers and sellers in these areas.

Visit us at our website http://www.karlinllc.com to set up a search or contact us and we will do it for you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Cobb County has excellent schools, from elementary through High School. There are also areas in Fulton County that have very strong schools. Please visit my website at http://www.elitehomemarketing.com for more information. I have lived in Cobb county for 38 years, therefore I know it very well . I would like to talk with you about helping you and your family in your househunting process. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Tara,

There are many good school districts in and around metro Atlanta, but first you must decide what is important to you and your child! I agree with Kirsten, http://www.schooldigger.com is a great site that many of clients use when zeroing in on their home search. If you are looking to be intown, Morningside, Inman Park, Candler Park, city of Decatur and the Druid Hills area all are located in sought-after school districts.

But again, only you can decide what is best for your family!

Best of luck!

You may want to consider schools in the city of Decatur. It is on the east side of Atlanta. Fern bank Elementary, close to Decatur, is also good.

Searching for schools is a personal journey. There are a few ways to search for them:

I love Cherokee County Schools, my kids attend or have attended Hickory Flat ES, Dean Rusk MS and Sequoyah HS. All three schools are right next to each other. I personally attended private school growing up and I have nothing but good thnigs to say about these schools. Cherokee County is a great place to live, I moved here from Roswell, GA in 1998. I was able to purchase a home almost twice the size, in a golf course community for about $100,000 more and property taxes were about the same.

Check out Woodstock 30188 or Canton 30115!

My fellow professional Realtors and I know that school districts, much like paint colors, are best left to the individual. Also, we are not allowed by the real estate license law to say whether or not a school district is "good" or "bad" as that may be discriminatory. Try checking out this website to get your research started on schools districts: Neighborhood Scout.

Woodstock, Canton, Cumming, Alpharetta, Kennesaw, Canton, Acworth. Really family oriented areas, great schools, lots of big city ammenities with small town charm. Go to my website and review the tab "local communities" which has a ton of information about these and other cities in the North Atlanta area. I'd be happy to show you around.
