I am int. in new home w/ RR in close prox - backyard. What % of buyers for resale will this turn away?

I like the home and 139k is still a little higher than I wanted and I think that if house appr for 159k.. 20 is big drop. Could I possb get it for cheaper.? It's New cons. and a cute cape cod w/2 stories and approx. 1300 sq ft. Is the RRX nearby a bad choice for resale?

Meri, the RR nearby will certainly affect the resale. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it has been on the market a ridiculously long time. Most Buyers, most people want their home to be their place to recharge, their safe place, where they can shut out the daily frustration of the world and reconnect with their family. It's hard to do that when there is a train coming through your back yard-hard, but not completely impossible. I am wondering, in this price range, there are so many homes on the market, have you looked at others? To each his own, but I will never understand why anyone would build a home next to a RR track.

I'm familiar with the home your speaking off. (On Luscombe) The houses do look very nice and the railroad in the back yard has evidently not effected the other homeowners who have bought on the street. I do think you could negotiate off from the 139k price to help you when you go to resale. I recommend you connect with
with an experienced Buyer's agent that could pull some comparative sales for you prior to making your offer.

Your odds are lower for resale always when RR is near

Kingston Woods is a nice area that has held it value well.

The number of trains passing through there is not high. However, unless a buyer really likes trains, or is willing to pay less to live near a track, then the number of people who would be willing to purchase and live there is going to be somewhat limited.

There are exceptions to everything. For example, train tracks don't seem to bother those who live along Westland to the south and in Echo Valley.
