I am not allowed to give tax advice, however, my sister considered moving to Lake Tahoe and here are some of the areas she researched.
First, compare California vs Nevada property tax rates. There are 2 CA counties, depending on where you live. Placer didn't list a tax rate and El Dorado is about 1.1%. Douglas county in Nevada is said to be between 1.77 - 3.22 %. Also, don't forget to take into consideration how much your property tax can go up next year. (California has prop. 13, which limits how much your tax can go up.)
Second, compare state income tax. Nevada does not have personal income tax.
I hope this helps answer your question.
