Gaynell, You may wish to consider the following suggestions....Look at your credit report .....https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp......
Read through the Hud homebuying site.....http://www.hud.gov/buying/index.cfm#afford...lots of good information..
Check out Gov. approved homebuying courses in your area. http://www.hud.gov/buying/localbuying.cfm
Some programs require you to attend them, you can make contacts, learn about programs and get credit repair advice if you need it.
Make use of the Free Gov. housing counseling to get info and assistance....http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/hcs.cfm
Take a look at the current Gov. housing loan programs and determine if you might be eligible on the Federal Gov loan site......http://www.govloans.gov/govloans_en.portal?_nfpb=true&_p…
When you talk to a local approved homebuying course they should provide you with any local program info.
I hope this might help you get started, Dunes

FHA, USDA, etc. You need to sit down with a mortgage broker and discuss your options.

I am a mortgage broker. If I can be of service, please let me know!

NACA.org has a 100% financing program but you must certify with them in advance of a purchase.

FHA is a great program, you only need 3.5% down and is for first time home buyers only.

And keep careful documentation of your income. you will need to verify this with the lender.

Do you have a job with sufficient income to make the monthly payments, plus taxes, insurance, utilities and maintenance? you will also need to have sufficient cash in reserve for emergencies. Can you manage if the roof or furnace needs replacing? Some localities have programs for down payment assistance, but you still need a source of income that will allow you to keep the house after purchase.
