The best thing to do is find a good real estate agent familiar with the Bay Ridge area. Make sure you provide the agent with all info on the type of property you seek and your available down payment and a pre-qual letter from a financial institution.

Jan,

Our recommendation is to begin the purchase process by first evluating and updating your personal budget. Once this has been accomplished, you can focus your attention on getting pre-approved for financing.

Many buyers take the course of looking for a home before arranging for financing which can complicate the purchase process. It is important to have a clear understanding of your financial price range prior to beginning your actual home search. With a accurate appreciation of of your limits, you can more easily concentrate on homes and neighborhoods that conform to your unique personal needs.

Good luck
