Having lived in Chapman Park for over 10 years, I can tell you that the fog stops at the southern hilltop (Mill Valley), but does cause the nice cool down in the evenings. The weather is not as windy as the East side of Corte Madera, but you'll still get that breeze from West to East. The lower you are in Chapman Park, the less you will feel the effect of the fog. And yes, it does differ from Larkspur. There is generally less wind in Larkspur, so temperatures might be 3-4 degrees warmer. Chapman Park is an EXCEPTIONAL place to live! Cheers!

Hi Jack,
You definitely get less fog in the Chapman Park area than other areas of Southern Marin, and a little more sunshine. But the most important thing is that Marin weather in general is really some of the best weather in the country. For much of the year, from April through November or so, it seems like constant sunshine. From November through March there is definitely some rain, and it can be a little colder, but not compared to the rest of the country! While the East Coast is still getting blizzards we can have warm, sunny days. We have definitely had more rain than usual this winter, but that is a healthy thing and keeps the area "green" and helps keep our redwoods alive here in Mill Valley!

Chapman Park is beautiful. A few degrees warmer than Mill Valley but mild year round!

Good Luck!

Jack,
Great way to check out micro climates is to do a little walking/driving around the neighborhoods you are interested in. Curves and bends in roads can alter how much sun a home gets, for instance whether or not the home is set into a hillside. In general, the older more settled areas have the best weather, which is why they were built on first.
Hope this helps and I'm happy to answer further questions.
Very best, Phillipa Criswell

Chapman Park, an old neighborhood south of the town park is less than 1500' from Alexander Ave, in Larkspur. But micro-climates abound in Marin so generalizations can mislead, 'ya gotta check each home site.

Try using http://maps.google.com to check out; maps, air photos, terrain maps, street views, real estate listings, and more. Not only can you tell where what is but what is around it.
