A mortgage can sometimes actually help your credit score. It shouldn't have much of a negative affect.

Should not drop much at all. Bank is committing to you and your history of credit.Best of Luck!

Hello Nichole,

I never noticed that mine did and I have bought a bunch. I do know that missing a mortgage payment will drop your score by about 100 points. If you make on time payments I cannot think of any reason why that question would come into play.

Initially you may have a small drop. But if you pay your mortgage on time your credit may be better than it was
