Although the Medical Center may not seem that far away, the commute to and from Katy can be BRUTAL, especially during rush hour, which in the morning starts about 7:00 and lasts until around 9:00 AM and in the afternoon starts around 3:00 when schools are getting out and can last up to 6:30 or 7:00. The commute, in my experience, is between 45 minutes to an hour IF there are no accidents and it isn't a Friday before a holiday. Your best bet is to use a toll road, carpool so you can use the HOV lane, or live closer to the Medical Center. And the response that addressed the cost of parking in the Medical Center is right - they have a monopoly on parking and it costs a lot, usually between 100 -200 per month depending on how close you park to any particular building.

Katy is approximately 34 miles from the TX Medical Center.
However, in Katy at I-10 and Barker Cypress Rd, the TX Medical Center has built its West Campus.

Hi Patricia: it is a great question, and because I have lived in mutiple places, I have a good answer. I live in Katy now, close to I-10. My husband works downtown. It takes about 35-50 minutes, depending on what time he leaves in the morning. So to the medical center, it is about 40-50, depending on the time of day. There are different ways you could travel. Katy is awesome; we love it here. Thanks.

There are great medical centers in Katy. Texas Medical Center, Methodist Hospital, Memorial Hermann and others. But it does take an hour to get from Katy to Md Anderson or St. Luke's due to traffic and distance.

It is not close. What building or facility are you refering to specifically. You need to consider your commutes carefully. Your time is worth something....correct? Tolls you might be paying can add up to over a $100 a month easily. Stress levels and health....I am not joking. Gasoline and wear and tear on your car. Check out metro park and ride resources and be aware of the costs for parking in the med-center is a mafia. Sometimes it is worth paying the premium to live in town, live in a smaller older house and pay a higher mortgage. This is especially true if school is not a factor. But believe it or not, HISD does have some good schools in town. There is a lot to consider.

The average commute from Katy to the Medical Center would depend on where in Katy you are coming from. For instance, coming from my office in the Villagio Center, it would be approximately 40-45 minutes.

About 25-30 minutes without traffic. Many people who work in the med center live in pearland. V
