How can I negotiate on a house build in 1930, 2,8000sq ft in West Warwich RI?

Asked by Newlyweds, West Warwick, RI Sun Jun 5, 2011

The house is in West Warwick RI we are not sure what kind of condition the house is in and we are first time home buyers. We don't want to low ball them nor do we want to get riped off. Also what is negotiable with closing costs.

hi newlyweds, this is ann from deer park L,I. we bought our house when we were 21. we got a lawyer went to closing and spent about 16 years fixing the house. be wise an get an inspecter and go though every detail needed or your not goingto be the show holms on homes you'll get the feel for what you need to do. go to the library they have books on home inspections. an don't sign before you do. and get the info on the net ,book stores etc, good luck an have a loving life together. udamore55.

If you don't have an agent consider the idea, he/she will be your best guide; in order to determine an offer, review comps--recently sold similar properties in the immediate area, see what the data suggests and go from there; be aware that a mortgage pre-approval letter is required in order to determine your price range and for any offers to be taken seriously.
