As all have stated, talk to a realtor and get the recent comps... see what they are and have been selling for. Then make a smart descision from there.

Yeah, this is a very subjective question. It's hard to tell without seeing the home itself or the neighborhood that it is in. You definitely want to work with a realtor on this one. As someone in the mortgage industry, it's imperative not to overpay for a home, because banks will lend on the lesser of the property value or purchase price. If the purchase price exceeds the property value, the buyer will have to cover the difference.

Whenever you are buying a property you must do a comparative market analysis
to be sure you are making your purchase at "market value". I agree with Sunil that a Real Estate professional is the best avenue to use when making such a purchase because they are in tune with current market conditions and each property must be considered on an individual basis.

The asking price and offer price are case sensitive. Besides the age, there are many other factors for pricing the property. If you are working with some RE Agent, he/she may be able to help you. If not , a buyer can always work with any reputed Real Estate/Realtors team. Good Luck in your search.
