It's a lovely area to raise a family triangulated by Clay Pit Ponds State Park to the SW, a 260-acre nature preserve with wetlands, streams and woodlands, picnicking and hiking as well as more than five miles of bridle paths. Bloomingdale Park to the south has 138 acres with fields for softball, baseball, and soccer, basketball courts and a bocce ball court and to the SE is the South Shore Golf Course.
Peppered throughout are shopping plazas and houses of worship, bus routes into the city, in addition to easy highway access to 440. You can find information on schools at http://www.Greatschools.org.
If you would like information on the housing market and assistance in researching possible homes for your family I would be happy to assist you.

Many people that live there think it is a good neighborhood. You can see if the area meets your needs by visiting the area, checking with Staten Island Community Board 3, viewing the 123rd Precinct crime statistics; http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/… see what the NYC council District has to say http://council.nyc.gov/d51/html/members/home.shtml and find out about the schools at http://schools.nyc.gov/default.htm

Good neighborhood is really a matter of personal preferences, therefore if unfamiliar with the area do take the time and visit more than once and at different times of day; possibly chat with locals/neighbor, look at everything that's important to you, etc., and see all firsthand. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

I think it is a great area to raise a family. The most important consideration for you would probably be school district. Check out PS 56 on Woodrow Road. Bloomingdale Park offers many family activities especially in the summertime. If I can be of any further assistance, please call me. Linda Beam 347-620-8447 also please see our website
