Does anyone have any advice on which Lake Geneva neighborhoods may be more desirable?

My husband and I are new to the area (as well as first-time home buyers) and location is obviously very important to us!

"Desirability" is such a subjective term. I counsel buyers to become as knowledgeable as possible about different neighborhoods and the amenities or advantages of each. It's then possible to create a list of pros and cons as they relate to your lifestyle an priorities. For example, if you're looking for an established neighborhood, within walking distance of the lake, town and the elementary school your obvious choices are the historical Maple Park district, Sturwood, the Manor, as well as Victorian Square and the neighborhoods on the east side. If you're looking for a more rural location and would consider driving distance (less than 5 miles) to Lake Geneva acceptable there are even more options. Ultimately, each buyer must decide what is desirable and then look within those areas. Good luck and congratulations on your decision to become a home owner. Janis Hartley, Keefe Real Estate

Lake Geneva IS a very desirable area altogether. Finding the neighborhood that fits your lifestyle needs may be more important. Of course the lakefront areas will all be exceptionally desired if you are a boater or water person. Geneva National, Grand Geneva, or Fontana are great neighborhoods for golfers and nature lovers.
The downtown neighborhoods have the excitement of being close to shops, restaurants, the lake and nightlife activities. The neighborhoods by the schools will be more family oriented with many little ones in the area which is great for the neighborhood kool-aid moms. So as you can see, Lake Geneva is a desirable community in all aspects with something for everyone. You just need to decide which lifestyle area would be more pleasing to you. Good luck.
