Do you know how to find a home that is rent to buy otherwise known I think as lease purchase?

I'm trying to move from an apartment into a rent to own home. I'm not sure where to start looking. Thanks!

As Ron notes, that's a very popular question. So popular I wrote a blog about how to find them: http://bit.ly/findaleaseoption

The very quick answer is that most won't be listed on the MLS that way. And even if it's not on the MLS, most won't be listed that way. So, in addition to locating ones that are, you have to look for other clues--other signs--that either a seller or a landlord would be willing to offer a property as rent-to-own.

Some Realtors know how to do it. Most don't. Tip: Find an investor-friendly Realtor. Even though you're not an investor, that agent will understand creative financing and how to present it to an owner or landlord.

Read the blog.

Hope that helps.

The easiest way is probably to find an agent with whom you are comfortable working and have them search the MLS for you. Lease Purchase is an option that can be included. Good Luck!

This is a very popular question; I just answered it for someone else:

Your best bet is to contact a local Realtor who can search Listing for those Key Words;
You are probably not going to find any.
You certainly are not going to find a Shortsale nor an REO that is also a Lease/Option.

Good luck and may God bless
