Chinese drywall is an individual home problem but it is serious and costly. You can keep up with evolving information on Chinese drywall on http://www.doh.state.fl.us/Environment/community/indoor-air/…
Also, here's an article regarding the mining.

The issues of both Chinese drywall and mining may be a bit overstated. As outsiders, by believing what we hear, we run the risk of not having an accurate appreciation for the real situation. Our recommendation is to continue to collect information but to do so with the greatest of care being sure to rely on first hand information when possible.

A visit to Venitian Golf & River Club and informal visits with its residents may be the most reliable source of information.

You might be suprised by the number of people that reside in the community that don't have an awareness of the existence of either issue.
