Credit Crunch

Asked by Elise Richardson, San Marcos, TX Mon Oct 27, 2008

I am English and am planning to emigrate to Texas. In light of the current finacial "crisis", are most mortgage lenders still asking for a 20% deposit (down payment) from non-USA citizens or have the rules changed?

Elise, Like Stew I believe your down payment requirement will be higher. I'm just north of Houston and have a couple of good loan officers if you would like to talk with one.
Welcome to Texas!

Elise,

I would speak to a Mortgage Lender in Texas (I used to live there).

If you would like a referal, let me know. I know a great one.

I do believe that it is closer to 30-40% for foriegn nationals now for down payment.
