Condos in NW DC

Asked by Juste, Atlanta, GA Mon Mar 30, 2009

I'm a first time home buyer looking for a one bed condo (under 300k) preferably near U St or Dupont Circle -this seems to be hard (maybe impossible) to find, any advice ? I'm not sure how long I'll live in it - maybe 5 years - but like this area, so might be longer.

Hi Juste,
I'm not a real estate agent-- just happened to wander onto this site. I own a condo/co-op, 1 BR/Ba just steps off the Van Ness Metro and am looking to sell. I'd love to avoid commission charges and split that with someone. I know the area well, having lived here since 2001. I had the same thoughts as you when I originally bought. Parking and metro access were key for me, as well as the price point. U St is trendy but can be a little sketchy and no metro; Dupont was just too expensive, usually too small with no parking at all. I love my place there and hate to give it up! Also willing to consider other alternatives like lease options. Comps are pricing around $275,000. My unit is 1050 sq ft which is larger than most. So, a larger place, with great metro and parking options, for around $100K less than other areas. Besides, it's just 3 stops from Dupont Circle anyway. If interested, please post and we'll find a way to make contact.

Juste,

There are various places in the Dupont / U St. cooridor that are options. You may want to consider some of the new places as well that sometimes don't show up on regular searches. If I can be of assistance please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email.
