Please go to my website at http://www.pamelaaproperties.com. There you will find a tab called community information. Click on that then put in the zip code you want information on. You will get community characteristics, population stats, household info, education, housing, transportation, income , employment, net worth, cost of living, climate and crime. This is for anywhere in the US. I hope this helps.

Since real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods, consider doing some of your own research beforehand-- Visit a neighborhood several times and at different times of day to get a sense of belonging, possibly chat with locals, look at anything of imprtance to you, check out area statistics, etc., then make a determination--where will your comfort level best be reached.

Jim,
Speak to a Realtor about finding your dream home. Once you see homes you like, spend time in the neighborhood, and determine your own opinion.
Go to NYC police dept. websites for crime statistics; NYC Dept. of Ed. for information about local schools, NYC DOT for bus schedules. You should go to the forums on SILIVE.com to see the local residents view.
Good Luck
Bob
